Z) Limitations of function / Important notes

Z.0) General

- The Menue Prompted Start-Up may be used only
  once in a drive's window. If the drive's window is splitted
  do not start the Menue Prompted Start-Up in both panes.

Z.1) Communication with USS

- The communication via USS only works correctly, if the number
  of process data words (PZD) are accordingly set in the drive and
  in SIMOVIS. For safety reasons the number of PZD-words will be
  automatically set to the value, which has been entered in the
  SIMOVIS bus configuration. This is performed during establishing
  the USS communication and only for drives of the families
  SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES and SIMOREG DC MASTER.
  The factory default settings in the drives and in SIMOVIS are
  accordingly 2 words. Attention: the communication may be
  erroneous after a factory setting had been performed in a drive.
  For MICROMASTER drives the number of PZD-words is fixed
  (2 words), so that no problems are to be expected.

- After the data base of a base unit has been created ("learned"),
  BUSKON will not aktualize the sw version, but SIMOVIS will be
  launched for the new sw version.

Z.2) MASTERDRIVES / SIMOREG

- Menu prompted start-up:

     Base unitMasterdrives MC V1.3x: When defining the drive
     type (rated power) some MLFB's (order numbers) are
     displayed and can be selected, which are not approved for
     MASTERDRIVES MC.
     During the download the menu prompted start-up will try to
     set the selected value into P70 (MLFB). If this selected
     value is not approved for MASTERDRIVES MC, it will be
     refused by the drive (the old value in P70 remains valid).
     Result: The menu prompted start-up should be repeated.
     This errer will be fixed in the sw. version 1.4 of
     MASTERDRIVES MC/MC Compact Plus

     Base units: If in the bus configuration (BUSKON) the number
     of process data words (PZD, factory default setting=2) has
     been changed (e.g. to the value 4), the result of the menu
     prompted start-up will cause communication errors because
     the factory default setting will then have been
     re-established (PZD=2).
     Result: the menu prompted start-up may only be performed
     with PZD=2 (P703=2). After having terminated the menu
     prompted start-up the number of process data words can be
     changed without problems (P703 and in the bus configuration!).

     Technology: It is recommended not to change machine data
     during the menue prompted start-up in the drive status 14
     (operation) but e.g. in the status 9 (ready to switch on).
     Otherwise the new data will not immediately be actualized
     (a message will then be displayed), but must be actualized
     after having stopped the drive.

   - With PROFIBUS communication between SIMOVIS and MASTERDRIVES,
     the communication will be lost after the drives's parameters
     have been reset to the FACTORY SETTINGS (which also causes the
     communication board CBP to be re-initialized). The communication
     can only be re-established by terminating and restarting
     SIMOVIS and switching the MASTERDRIVES base unit OFF and ON.
     This problem will be solved in communication boards CBP,
     SW versions greater than 1.24.
     The menu prompted start-up for base units (see also B.0.2) also
     causes a reset to factory settings and therefore only may be used
     with communication boards CBP, SW version greater than 1.24.
     There are no such restrictions when using USS communication.

   - If the data base of a MASTERDRIVES base unit is created via
     Profibus ("learning function"), the parameters dimensions will
     not be available within SIMOVIS. This problem will be fixed in the
     base unit's sw-versions 3.2.x (MASTERDRIVES VC) and 1.4
     (MASTERDRIVES MC and MC Kompakt Plus)
     There is no such restriction when using USS communication.

     After using the "Quick parameter setting" (CUMC, CUVC) the
     drive's base unit will be reset to factory settings, which also
     effects the interface parameters to be reset. Therefore the
     "Quick parameter setting" may only be performed using the
     factory settings of the interface parameters (for USS i.e.:
     Baudrate=96ooBd, bus address=0). Otherwise the parameterization
     would not be tranferred into the drive completely.

Z.3) Technology boards

- If a technology's data base is already existing,
  it CANNOT be OVERWRITTEN by creating a new data base with the
  SAME NAME.
  Relief: Choose another technology name when creating a new data base.

Z.4) Commumication via PROFIBUS

- The "SIMOVIS" button used to launch SIMOVIS from the S7 slave's
  property sheet, must be clicked-on several times before it will work.
  This error depends on the PC configuration.

- When starting the learning procedure to generate a data base, sometimes
  the error message "Error when reading P50" will be displayed. To avoid
  this message please click on the button "Option boards" before starting
  the learning procedure.

B) SIMOVIS general

B.0.1) What was new in SIMOVIS V5.2, revision AA
       (Changes versus V5.1)

 - The speed to build up the SIMOVIS screens has been improved (i.e. when
   opening the function block grafics).

 - There is a function bar (toolbar) available containing the 24 most
   important menu entries.

 - The grafical menu prompted start-up is now available for the base units
   MASTERDRIVES MC and MASTERDRIVES MC Kompakt Plus, SW version 1.3.
   To launch the menu prompted start-up use the toolbar button or the
   menu entry Parameter > Menu prompted start-up.

 - The function block grafics are now not only available for the free
   function blocks, but also for the base unit functions for:
    MASTERDRIVES MC, V1.3
    MASTERDRIVES MC Kompakt Plus, V1.3
    MASTERDRIVES VC, V3.1 (partly).
   Thus you can grafically parameterize base unit functions with the
   diagrams from the drives' documentation (compendium).

B.0.2) What is new in SIMOVIS V5.3

- It is now possible to parameterize racks of the control system
  SIMADYN D with up to 16 processor modules (communication via
  PROFIBUS only). Please see also chapter G).

- When launching SIMOVIS via STEP7 (PROFIBUS)
  - the type and the software version of the connected drive will
    be online detected and displayed,
  - the software version of a drive can be selected to launch the
    correct SIMOVIS application,
  - the data base of the connected drive can be online created, if it
    is not yet available within SIMOVIS,
  - the data base of a technology board can be online created.

- The menu prompted start-up for the technology functions of
   MASTERDRIVES MC and MC Compact Plus is available.

- The menu prompted start-up for the basic functions of
   SIMOREG DC MASTER, SW version 1.5, is available.

- When changing from online- to offline-operation a new file
  based on the factory settings will be immediately opened (no
  popup menu displayed). Any new or existing files can be
  opened as usual using the menu "File" or the toolbar.

- The function "Execute Script file" is available. All further information:
  Online help (SIMOVIS): Help topics > Parameter sets > Script files.

- The trace function has been improved:
  The time base of the time axis (horizontal) will be automatically
  calculated after a record is read.
  The different graphs can be identified on the printout of a record.

- Software version V2.0 of MASTERDRIVES AFE (Active Front End)

- Software version V4.3 of MASTERDRIVES RRU (re-generating/
  rectifying unit)

B.0.3) What is new in SIMOVIS V5.3.1

- Menue prompted start-up for the base unit of
  MASTERDRIVES VC, sw version 3.2.

- Menue prompted start-up for the base unit of
  SIMOREG DC Master, sw version 1.6.

- MASTERDRIVES MC and MC Kompakt Plus: sw version 1.4

- The technology board T400, plugged in the SIMADYN D rack
  SRT400, may now be parameterized via it's USS interface without
  any MASTERDRIVES or SIMOREG base unit.
  Attention: a learning procedure in order to create a data base
  cannot be performed. The technology's data bases must be
  delivered by a SIEMENS department or may be created with
  help of a MASTERDRIVES / SIMOREG unit, with the T400 as
  technology board.

- The parameter menues of the MICROMASTER family are now
  available in 5 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian).

- Several error-fixings, included the hotfix3.

B.1) System environment "Standalone" (communication via USS)

The SIMOVIS installation creates a program icon
SIMOVIS(USS) which starts SIMOVIS "standalone" from
your desktop. "Standalone" mode must be used for
communication using the USS protocol.

For USS bus operation a RS232 to RS485 converter
is required. It is recommended that this converter
should offer some form of electrical isolation in
order to protect the PC and be capable of operating
at a minimum of 9600 Baud in order to obtain a
reasonable response. Recommended: SIEMENS interface
converter US1, order No.: 6SX7005-0AA00.

Alternatively, for MICROMASTER/MIDIMASTER/COMBIMASTER
SIEMENS OPM2, order No.: 6SE3290-0XX87-8BF0-Z
"ISSUE D or Higher" can be also used.

Single drive operation (point-to-point, RS232) for:
- PC (COMx) and PG7xx (COM2):
  Pin 2 ---> transmit line of the drive (see below),
  Pin 3 ---> receive line of the drive (see below),
  Pin 5 ---> reference potential of the drive (see below).
- To connect to the COM1 of a PG7xx a 25-pin to 9-pin
  adapter can be used.

B.2) System environment "SIMATIC S7"

If SIMOVIS is integrated into the STEP7 engineering system
(communication with PROFIBUS) then you need the following:

Software:

- STEP 7 Version 4.02 or higher,
- Step 7 "Add on" DVA_S7, Version 2.0 or higher,
          order No.: 6SX7005-0CB00

Once the software components are installed you can
start SIMOVIS from the SIMATIC Manager. For further
details please refer to the online help within DVA_S7 and SIMOVIS.

Hardware Communications boards (PC):

- MPI-ISA, for baud rates up to 1.5MBd, order No.: 6ES7793-2AA01-0AA0
- CP5611 (PCI), for baud rates up to 12MBd, order No.: 6GK1561-1AA00
- CP5511 (PCMCIA), for baud rates up to 12MBd, order No.: 6GK1551-1AA00

For further details please refer to the online help within
the SIMATIC Manager, topic "Set PG/PC interface...".

Communication boards for the drives: see below.

B.3) Operating instructions

SIMOVIS and BUSKON provide full online help facilities under
Help > Help topics. You do not need a seperate handbook.

B.4) Functions to be implemented in the future

- Languages French, Spanish, Italian will be completely translated.

B.5) Brief operating instructions for the Function Block Grafics

Grafical connection of the free function blocks (FB) for:
  MASTERDRIVES MC from V1.2,
  MASTERDRIVES VC(CUVC) from V3.1,
  SIMOREG DC Master from V1.2.
  Attention: There are no special online help texts available for
             the Function Block Grafics. Thus please note the following
             hints:
  The function block grafics can be started from the Menu:
  Parameter > Function block grafic. A dialogue then opens from which
  you can select a function block. It is recommended to split the drive
  window (menu "window") and to open the function block grafic in both
  of the panes. So two function blocks are visible.

  The binectors and connectors can then be connected by drag&drop: take
  a binector or a connector with the lefthand mouse key and move it to an
  input parameter. Then release the mouse key.

  Please also note the tool-tips which open when the mouse
  is moved on the binectors, connectors and parameters:
  Lefthand mouse click on an input parameter, on a general parameter, or
  on the parameters for the sampling time and processing sequence:
  change value directly using a dialogue.
  Righthand mouse click on "wired" connectors or binectors: follow the
  connections (the function block connected to the connector or binector
  will automatically be opend in the other pane).

  A righthand mouse click into the free area opens a popup dialogue
  which offers further actions:
  - Select another function block,
  - Fit the function block into the pane area (recommended),
  - Zooming of large function blocks,
  - Actualize the connections,
  - Open a property dialogue for other settings,
  - Switch between data sets (general parameters belonging to the function
    data set, the motor data set or the BICO data set are displayed in
    blue, green, or red colour).

C) MICROMASTER / MIDIMASTER / COMBIMASTER information

This section details how to configure MICROMASTER 3,
MICROMASTER 3 Vector, MIDIMASTER Vector and COMBIMASTER 2
for use with SIMOVIS. These include hardware installation and
inverter parameterisation.

Full details of drive and PROFIBUS parameter sets can be found
in the respective product handbooks.

C.1) Hardware Installation

SIMOVIS can communicate with the drive using either
USS bus or PROFIBUS DP. Both of these interfaces
operate over an RS485 bus.

a) System environment "Stand alone":

Refer to the respective drives handbook for the
control terminal connections.

b) System environment "SIMATIC S7":

Communication Modules for the drives (slaves):

- CB15 PROFIBUS DP module up to 12MBd, order No.: 6SE3290-0XXX87-8PB0
  for Micromaster3, Micromaster 3 Vector, Midimaster Vector

- CB155 PROFIBUS DP module up to 12MBd, order No.: 6SE9996-0XXA20
  for Combimaster 2

Refer to the respective CB15 and CB155 handbooks for
configuring the PROFIBUS modules with the drives.

C.2) Drive Parameter Settings

Before communication with SIMOVIS can take place, the following
parameters must be configured for each of the Micromaster 3,
Micromaster 3 Vector, Midimaster Vector and Combimaster 2 drives on
the network,

a) For USS Bus Operation:- (P099 = 0)

P009 = 3 All parameters can be read and written.

P091 = 0 - 30	This is the drives slave address for USS. Each drive on
                the bus must have a different USS address, otherwise bus
                communication will fail (not effective
		for PROFIBUS).

P092 = 3 - 6	Drive baud rate for USS. The baud rate must be the same
                for all drives on the USS bus. For a reasonable bus
                response it is recommended that 9600baud (option 6) is
                used.

P093 = 0	USS bus time out.

P094 = User	This is the serial link nominal setpoint, which is user
                and drive dependent. Setpoints are transmitted to the
                drive as percentages. This value represents the 100%
                setpoint value. Note the maximum motor frequency P013
                must be equal to or greater than P094 for the 100%
                setpoint to be reached.

P095 = 1 or 2	If P095 = 1 then 0.01Hz resolution is enabled and the
                setpoint values entered into the drives control bar
                within Simovis represent percentage,
                e.g. if P094 = 50Hz then 50% = 25Hz.

		If P095 = 2 then the setpoint value entered represents
                the actual frequency to a resolution of 0.01Hz
                e.g. 2500 represents 25.00Hz.

		P095 = 0 is not supported by SIMOVIS and will result in
                units being incorrectly scaled.

P099 = 0 No Profibus module. If SIMOVIS is being used to configure
                the drive for Profibus operation, set this value to 1 to
                obtain the PROFIBUS parameter set. Please refer to the
                PROFIBUS Handbook for parameters.

P910 = 1 to 4	Local/control mode. This is set depending on the type of
                serial control required - Refer to drives handbook. For
                full control of parameters and frequency set this
                parameter to 1.

P971 = 1	Store Changes on drive power down

b) PROFIBUS Operation:- (P099 = 1)

P009 = 3 All parameters can be read and written.

P094 = User	This is the serial link nominal setpoint, which is user
                and drive dependent. Setpoints are transmitted to the
                drive as percentages. This value represents the 100%
                setpoint value. Note the maximum motor frequency P013
                must be equal to or greater than P094 for the 100%
                setpoint to be reached.

P095 = 1 or 2	If P095 = 1 then 0.01Hz resolution is enabled and the
                setpoint values entered into the drives control bar
                within Simovis represent percentages e.g. if P094 = 50Hz
                then 50% = 25Hz.

		If P095 = 2 then the setpoint value entered represents
                the actual frequency to a resolution of
                0.01Hz e.g. 2500 represents 25.00Hz.

		P095 = 0 is not supported by SIMOVIS and will result in
                units being incorrectly scaled.

P099 = 1        PROFIBUS module connected.

P918 = 1-126	PROFIBUS-DP slave address.
		Sets the PROFIBUS bus address (range 1 to 126)

P927 = 1        PROFIBUS-DP local/remote parameter control.
		Sets local or remote parameter control:
		0 = Local parameter control;
		1 = Remote parameter control (via PROFIBUS)

P928 = 1  	PROFIBUS-DP local/remote state control.
		Sets local or remote state control:
		0 = Full local control
		1 = Full remote control (via PROFIBUS)
		2 = Partial local control (remote control of frequency)
		3 = Partial remote control (local control of frequency)
		Note: If P928 is set to 0 or 2, the analogue input is
                active when P006 is set to 1.

P963 = 		PROFIBUS-DP baud rate 0 - 10[-]
		Shows the bit rate of the PROFIBUS-DP serial bus set
                automatically in PROFIBUS mode (read only):
	 	0 = Baud rate not found
		1  = Baud rate = 9,6 kBaud
		2  = Baud rate = 19,2 KBaud
		3  = Baud rate = 45,45 KBaud
		4  = Baud rate = 93,75 KBaud
		5  = Baud rate = 187,5 KBaud
		6  = Baud rate = 500 KBaud
		7  = Baud rate = 1,5 MBaud
		8  = Baud rate = 3,0 MBaud
		9  = Baud rate = 6,0 MBaud
		10 = Baud rate = 12,0 Mbaud

P971 = 1	Store Changes on drive power down

C.3) MICROMASTER 2 and MICROMASTER Junior Operation

- The setup for USS bus is as per section C.2 a), except for P099.
- Profibus V2 operation is not supported .

- In Buskon configure the drive as follows:-
   For Micromaster Junior: Drive - Micromaster; software version - 98.9
   For Micromaster 2: Drive - Micromaster; software version - 99.9

C.4) Other Information

- The drive must be stopped in order to change
  P910 between Remote and Local mode

- When P910 is changed from Remote to Local Control Mode
  the drive cannot be parameterised from Simovis.
  In Local mode P910 can only be changed via the drives front panel.

- After changing P910 = 3 to P910 = 1 the User is required
  to perform a stop befor trying to run the drive
  (Select Stop in the Drive Operation Line in Simovis)

D) MASTER DRIVES Information

D.1) Hardware installation

D.3) General notes

- Restrictions of the grafical connection of function blocks
   (function block grafic):
   The information of the connections between the function blocks
   are available in the drives with SW version 1.23 or higher.
   (MASTERDRIVES MC)
   resp. with SW-Version 3.13 (MASTERDRIVES VC(CUVC)

- Texts of alarms: the alarm parameters (r953 ... r960) may
   contain up to 16 different alarms. In SIMOVIS V5.0.1 only
   one warning text is given in the parameter list from each
   alarm parameter, even if more than one warning is present.
   Only when the first displayed warning is no longer active
   another warning, if present, will be displayed (a complete
   solution enabling the display of all present warning is
   being developed).

D.4) MASTERDRIVES CR Operation

You can parameterize the drive type MASTERDRIVES CR by
selecting MASTERDRIVES RRU; software version 94.3

     (BUSKON).

E.2) SIMOREG 6RA70 DC Master

The SW versions 1.0, 1.1 und 1.2 can only be parameterized in German
language! Newer versions can be parameterized in English and German.

E.2.1) Hardware installation

a) RS232 operation can only be performed with the serial
    interface SST1 (9 pin socket in the case front).
     For PC (COMx) und PG7xx (COM2):
     Pin 2 ---> Pin 7 (X103)
     Pin 3 ---> Pin 2 (X103)
     Pin 5 ---> PIN 9-1-5 (X103)
    A complete connecting cable can be
    ordered with the order number 6SX7005-0AB00.

b) RS485 operation (with interface converter RS232/RS485) is
    can be performed with SST1 or SST2.
    Details please see B.1).

E.2.2) In factory parameter setting you can immediately
     operate via X501 (9.6KBd, slave address=0).

     Other configurations can be set as follows:

     Protocol selection (SST1): P780 = 2 (USS protocol)
                        (SST2): P790 = 2

     USS bus address    (SST1): P786 = 0 bis 30
                        (SST2): P796 = 0 bis 30

     Baud rate          (SST1): P783 = 6, 7, 8 (9.6, 19.2, 38.4 KBd)
                        (SST2): P793 = 6, 7, 8

     Number of PKW elements (SST1): P782 = 127 (fixed telegram length)
                            (SST2): P792 = 127

     Number of PZD elements (SST1): P781 = 2 bis 16
                            (SST2): P791 = 2 bis 16

     CAUTION!!! The number of PZD words set in the converter
     must be identical with the setting in the bus configuration (BUSKON).

E.2.3) General notes

a) Restrictions of the grafical connection of function blocks
   (function block grafics):
   The information of the connections between the function blocks
   are not yet available in the SIMOREG DC MASTER, SW version 1.2.
   A righthand mouse click on a binector or connector will thus always
   cause the text "not connected". This is fixed in SW-V1.3 and higher.
   The function block grafics for base unit functions (F800 - F999)
   are not yet available.

F) SIMOVERT PM Information

Attention: The free parameterization (menu "Parameter") is
available for SIMOVERT PM drives with the following restriction:
Sub-indices (to select inverters 1...24) cannot be entered.
The free parameterization is thus limited to central unit
parameters (sub-index=0).

F.1) System environment

SIMOVERT PM converters can only be operated in system
environment "stand alone".

F.2) Drive Parameter Settings

Before an online communication with SIMOVIS can take place,
the following parameters must be configured:

P039 = 0 		Programming permitted

P450 = 0 -31	USS bus address. Each drive must have a different address.

P451 = 0 - 5	USS baud rate. All drives must have the same baud rate.

P146 = 0 - 2	Telegramm monitoring
                	P146 = 0: No monitoring

P147 = 1 -600	Telegramm monitoring time
	        	(irrelevant)

P131 = 0 - 5	Data source block A
                	Value = 1

P132 = 0 - 11	Setpoint source block A
                	Value = 7

P133 = 0 - 7	Command source block A
                	Value = 3

P134 =  0 - 5	Data source block B
                	Value = 1

P135 =  0 - 11	Setpoint source block B
                	Value = 7

P136 =  0 - 7	Command source block B
                	Value = 3

G) SIMADYN D information

In SIMADYN D racks up to 16 processor modules (PM) may be parameterized
using SIMOVIS. In every PM up to 2000 parameters are possible, i.e. 32000
Parameters in every rack. These parameters are designated within SIMOVIS
as follows:
- For every PM the parameter numbers are 0...1999,
- for changeable parameters a "P" will be placed left to that number,
- for read-only parameters a "r" will be placed left to that number,
- the processor module number will be placed leftmost.

Example 1 (read-only parameter 500 of  PM no. 1): 1r0500;
Example 2 (changeable parameter 1500 of PM no. 3): 3P1500;
Example 3 (changeable parameter 7 of PM no. 12): 12P0007.
